I have walked to the edge, I have breathed in the wind… but I did not see God
I focused my sight, gathered all my might, then shut my eyes tight!
But still I did not see God
So I let go of all that I had carried with me,
my coat, hat, and shoes and sat down to weep.
And now that my tears into a river have turned,
Flowed through my heart on a course I can’t see
All that I’ve known has withered and burned
The unknowable presence of God is Me.
