The White Owl

white owl

You are a whisper

a shaking of  leaves

a white owl seen

through the willowing trees

Your dawn melts the ice

that covers my eyes

Your dawn melts away

my kingdom’s guise

Layer your wings across my back

so I may fasten your touch

Guide me softly with the night

and keep me in your clutch

Please trade this shell of rage forged skin

for a luminous tone to grace my kin

And guard this grove of hallowed trails

to light the way from dream’s betrayal
